Slavonia is a geographical and historical region in eastern Croatia. It is a fertile agricultural and forested lowland in the Pannonian Basin, bounded, in part, by the Drava river in the north, the Sava river in the south, and the Danube river in the east. Slavonia is notable for its light forests, wide plains and significant agricultural industry.
Numerous baroque mansions and churches, endless plains, centuries-old oak forests, green vineyards and wine cellars filled with Croatian wines can all be found in the region.
After Central Croatia, Slavonia is the largest Croatian tourist region, encompassing five counties: Virovitica-Podravina, Brod-Posavina, Požega-Slavonia, Osijek-Baranja, and Vukovar-Srijem. In the last few years, tourism in Slavonia and Baranja has been growing because of the tradition and peace it guarantees visitors.
